A downloadable game for Windows

Blossom is a simple, relaxing VR game where you paint flowers onto a tree. No rules, no objective, no timer—just a living canvas in a peaceful environment.

How to play: stand near the edge of your VR space, facing inwards, and run the game. The palette floating in front of you lets you choose colors to paint with; it also has a button to reset the scene if you’d like to start over.

I have only tested Blossom on fairly high-end hardware—a Valve Index and an RTX 2080—so it may not perform well on some computers. For that, I apologize: making VR games both pretty and performant is really, really hard.

Blossom is for the 2020 Unreal Spring Jam, and took about five days to make; I worked on my own, with the following tools:

  • Unreal Engine (of course)
  • Houdini
  • Substance Designer
  • GarageBand for iOS
  • Cinema 4D
  • Voice Memos on iOS
  • Audacity

Install instructions

If you have SteamVR, you should be able to run this by just double-clicking the EXE. Oculus, I’m afraid I have no idea. Best of luck.

Tried on Oculus Rift S. I was unfortunately stuck in the floor! (Very low down, head just barely above the floor). Oculus reset position function didn't do anything.

Looks beautiful
